The Big Camera
The Big Camera is the only museum of photography in Western Australia and possibly the largest collection of working cameras in the southern hemisphere.
Displays of over 3000 cameras all of which are fully operational and date from eight years before photography was even invented right up to modern day items.
Not only cameras but projectors, enlargers, processing equipment, magic lanterns and magic lantern slides, zoetropes, phantascopes, movie cameras,movie projectors, flash guns, light meters, anything to do with photography.
Open 9.00am to 5.00pm every day except closed Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Admission fees $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children under 12 years.
The Big Camera is situated 133 Kilometres East of Perth on the Great Eastern Highway at Meckering.
This is the only museum, totally dedicated to photography, open to the public anywhere in Australia.
The building is fully air-conditioned for comfort and is shaped like a giant 35mm camera.
